In the last week of June, representatives of the Municipality and the City of Nisko participated in a study visit to the Municipality of Midt – Telemark in Norway. The visit was a continuation of the cooperation established with the Partner from Norway as part of a project co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
The second day was devoted to visiting local companies and local organizations supporting the economic development of the commune. The main profile of the Midt-Telemark Municipality is tourism, agriculture and fruit processing, the municipality is famous for its apple production. For the purposes of the development of local agriculture, the Municipality has a unit of the Municipality "Landbrukets Hus", whose aim is to support agricultural production and promote local production
After the visit to Landbrukets Hus, the representatives of the Municipality visited the local apple processing company TELEFRUKT. Apples are the brand name of the municipality and are an important part of the economic development of the region. The company we visited deals with the packaging and processing of apples, selling fruit, but also ready-made products made on the basis of w.in fruit. apple juices and cider. In the second part of the day, the representatives learned about the system of organization and operation of the local water park, which was created on the initiative of the municipality's employees. The initial capital for the construction of the park came directly from the residents, today the park is in the hands of a large tourism corporation and is known throughout southern Norway. Another company visited was a local hotel in Bo, which is developing its new project related to the expansion of the hotel with conference space. The owner of the hotel initiated the construction of a local development cluster, to which he invited local companies, in order to integrate and develop. It's a good one to use...
The third day of the visit was devoted to learning the basics of the organization and the system of supporting local business. In the Midt-Telemark municipality there is a non-profit company MTNU, established by local governments, which directly supports the development of local entrepreneurship. The company undertakes many activities related to the development and promotion of local business, e.g. in the form of training, advisory support and organized projects. During this meeting, representatives of Midt-Telemark and the Mayor discussed the principles of supporting local entrepreneurship in the system of organizing the activities of the local government. In this case, the basis is a strategic and planned action that brings measurable results in their community
On that day, the representatives also visited a local company that sews regional folk costumes for both women and men. This company is a perfect example of combining craftsmanship and cultural tradition, as all folk costumes are embroidered by hand.
We would like to thank our Partners for the opportunity to visit Norway, in particular for their hospitality and willingness to cooperate. During the last visit, we had the opportunity to learn about an interesting system of supporting local entrepreneurship, with model solutions that we will want to use in the local environment. We invite you to our photo report from the visit to the beautiful municipality of Midt – Telemark.
