As part of the project financed by the Norway Grants, representatives of the Municipality and the City of Nisko participated in a conference devoted to the dissemination of the results of the Local Development Programme, which took place on 10-12 March in Bergen, Norway. At the invitation of the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS) in Norway and thanks to the Association of Polish Cities, the representatives of our municipality had the opportunity to learn about the activities of Norwegian local governments and their experiences in the field of communication, promotion and modern technologies supporting public services for residents.
As part of the conference, we learned the principles of creating a good information campaign for residents, taking into account the tool of "storytelling" or the principles of proper communication in the most accessible and simple way (plain language). These principles are currently the key conditions for media communication with residents in Norway. In addition, it is also very important to choose the right communication channels if we want to effectively reach residents with our information, which was also discussed by representatives of local municipalities and organizations.
An additional beneficial solution for local governments may also be "artificial intelligence", if we are able to use it correctly. Artificial intelligence AI is a tool that is now increasingly used not only by companies, but also by local governments, but it requires more and more attention from us if it contributes to improving the quality of public services provided to residents.
The second day of the conference was devoted to workshops of Polish cities and their partners from Norway. Our representatives worked together with the representatives of the Municipality of Midt – Telemark, our Municipality's partner in the project. Together, we worked on developing a project note according to the principles of storytelling along with its promotion in dedicated social media channels.
The opportunity to participate in the conference is an element of the development and improvement of competences of the employees of the Nizhany local government and the development of public services for residents. The meeting was also devoted to discussing with our Partner the Municipality of Midt – Telemark, further partnership activities, m.in. establishing cooperation between Nizhany and Norwegian schools in the form of student exchange or joint implementation of new projects.
